Makeup Haul - November + December

Makeup Haul - November + December

Stocked up on old favorites and trying out some new ones as well.

I'm trying out makeup products from Makeup Revolution and Star's Cosmetics. I'm quite surprised with the Star's Cosmetics. Even though I bought these products on a whim, they are quite good. I will be reviewing them soon. Some of my personal favorites are eyeshadows from Makeup Revolution, bright pink/fuchsia matte lippie from Maybelline and yellow matte powder from Star's Cosmetics. Maybelline Vivid & Smooth Eye Liner Pencil - Ocean Blue :Review & Swatches

Maybelline Vivid & Smooth Eye Liner Pencil - Ocean Blue
I have mixed feeling about this pencil as I love everything about it except for the shade. I wanted a vibrant blue shade and it did look like it, but on applying this shade 'Ocean Blue' looked so 'meh' and dull and looked liked it has a pearlized finish. I'm not a big fan of anything with pearlized finish. So it's needless so say that this is the least often used eye pencil in my vanity. But I do love how smoothly it applies. So will be checking out other shades in this line.

Eyetex Dazzler Eyeliner in Black - Review & Swatches

Eyetex Dazzler Eyeliner in Black
Eyetex is familiar brand in Tamil Nadu. They started off with shingars and sticker bindis and graduated recently couple of years in to the cosmetic industry. India, apart from Elle18 and may be this, doesn't have that many really affordable options like e.l.f, MUA, Jordana, L.A Colors, e.t.c.(Sorry about the following ramble, felt the need to express myself here) And whatever affordable options available here in India cannot even be compared to affordable brands mentioned above. There is this huge gap and really horrible option in the affordable section of cosmetics. Of course health and well being matters more than money.

Eyebrow Shaping Using Hair Remover - Inspired by Queenii Rozenblad

My eyebrows are thin, scanty and uneven.  I literally grow my eyebrows hair by hair. So every time I visit a parlor for threading my brows I have to beg them to be extra careful with it. Couple of hairs off I would have a bald patch 🙁 or super thin brows. In spite of prior warnings there are time they take off too much leaving me with thin brows. There were times I wished I could thread them on my own as I didn't want to tweeze them as they hurt like a bitch. But Queenii Rozenblad answered my prayers.I checked out her eyebrow shaping routine using hair remover and fell in love with it.Ladies check out her videos on Youtube, she is just awesome. I have also embedded her video on this topic at the end of this post Continue reading "Eyebrow Shaping Using Hair Remover - Inspired by Queenii Rozenblad"

Jordana INCOLOR Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner in Black: Review & Swatches

I'm blogging after such a long time due to shifting to our new home and then some more days after lack of internet connection at my place and some more due to lack of interest. Yeah its been really long since i have blogged. I seem to have fallen in a rut and cant conjure the energy or the enthusiasm to start blogging. Hopefully this is just a phase. Okay on to the post now.......

I love liquid eyeliner not just because it was the very first makeup product i tried but i love it for the fact how fluid and adaptive they are and how easy it is to draw a thin line or a winged eyeliner with them. And this pen type eyeliner is perfect for doing just that.I really love how comfortable and easy it is to handle them. This makes them such a wonderful product for anyone who is trying their hand at lining their eyes for the first time.

Price & Quantity: $1.99 for 1.54g (bought from Cherry Culture)
The ingredients are not mentioned on the product but they have mentioned them on their website.
Water (Aqua), Acrylates Copolymer, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Lignosulfonate, Sodium Laureth-11 Carboxylate, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Polysorbate 80, Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Laureth-12 Sulfate, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Edta, Black 2 (CI 77266).
My take on this:
The pen like packaging is very convenient, practical and travel friendly and last but not the least, very affordable. It is pocket friendly only if you get them at the above mentioned price. If they are going to sell it here in India, they would definitely jack up the price, then it would be just another eyeliner in the market.
The tip is thin but not super-thin. If you are looking for something to do miniature art in your eyes, then this is not the one. The tip is thin enough for a decently thin line and can be manipulated to do small arts but not finely detailed ones. The tip gives a smooth line and doesn't drag the skin on the lid. It is not super pigmented pigmented but not bad at the same it. And it dries quickly on applying. I have noticed that when i wear any eyeshadow i need an extra swipe of the eyeliner as the eyeshadow shows through. I also feel that the constancy is bit runny.

On my oily lids it lasts for about 5-6 hours and then it starts to fade slowly. But on prepping my eyes, it lasts for more than 6 hours. Not so bad considering the price, but not so great for ladies who hate to prep their eyes just for this eyeliner.

The one thing i hate about it is its smell. It has this chemical smell like a marker but it wears off soon. There are only two shades available in this range. Wish they had lots of shades in this one 🙁
I find so many contradicting reviews on the this product. It is so different from each other and i didn't see none of that in this one. I guess it must be a bad batch or something.
Travel friendly.
Convenient to use
Draws thin lines.
Draws smoothly.
Contains 3 different Parabens in it
Chemical smell.
Needs an extra swipe of the liner when wearing eyeshadow.
Runny consistency.
Doesn't last long.
This one is pocket friendly and not a bad choice for using everyday; however using a product that contains 3 different Paraben everyday??? I dont think so!!!

Mini Haul!!! Lipsticks, Blushes and some more

I kept this one a mini haul as i ordered only what i was missing. I have steadily started to incorporate blushes in to my looks and needed more shades. So got these. Like i have previously mentioned.....somewhere...not sure where, I invest in drug store cosmetics that are very affordable for obvious reasons.
I have ordered Some blushes, couple of eye shadows, 3 shades of concealers, eye liner, lipsticks. Just covered the basics. I know I'm rambling and really hurrying through this post. I have to run off before my little monster wakes up. Will start to review them soon.
Any requests to start off on anything particular??? Let me know.

Meylon Sparkling Terracotta Eyeshadow #404

Price & Quantity: Rs 165/- for 3.8g
My take on this:
I'm not a big fan of Pink shades and that too a shimmery and marbleized one. But i did need this shade for the makeup to go along with the outfit i was to wear on my niece's wedding. I actually found this when i was looking for Incolor single eye shadows. This brand name sounded vaguely familiar, so decided to give it a try. I Googled this product and found out the price to be Rs591/- on Flipkart (Check it out here) and for Rs 470 on Snapdeal (Check it out here) Wow!! What a difference in price!! I wonder why there is this difference. I got this in a local store in Chennai, maybe i will get more when i visit next time 🙂
Unlike Incolor cosmetics, this product actually has a list of ingredients on it. I'm sure this gives a peace of mind even though no website is available for this brand.(Correct me if I'm wrong)
The packaging is nothing great to talk about. Its look lot like a generic one used by many other brand. But it is sturdy and same enough to be carried around. The eye shadow itself is not powdery nor does it crack up when using, but it does break when you drop it like i did mine 🙁 It doesn't come with a mirror or a brush. This is a not a huge negative as i don't use the cheap brushes that comes along. And since this is a singles eye shadow, having a mirror at the bottom or having a tiny mirror wouldn't be of any use.
The texture of the eyeshadow is smooth to apply and lasts at least 4 hours without a primer. The eyeshadow creases lightly when my eye lids get too oily and that can be taken care of using a primer. Like i said earlier, it is a pink shimmery shade with marbleized shimmery gold shades in it.
It claims to be waterproof but its not 100%. It does come away with little effort. So if you are looking for a Waterproof eyeshadow this is not the one to buy.
Variety of shades available in this line.
Last for a decent time...considering the cost.
No allergic reactions on using.
Sturdy packaging
Negligible fall outs.
No attached mirror or brush.
Not waterproof.
Creases on a oily lid.
It a affordable and a good buy if you get it for the price i bought. Anything more than this price range.....then its better to go for well known brands.

Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo - 10 Fierce & Tangy

My take on this:
I bought this for this very shade as i am a big fan of Orange shades. This is my second attempt at cream eye shadows. The first one with e.l.f had been very disappointing and had put me off cream ones. But hearing all the raving reviews and looking at this awesome shade i decide indulge myself and boy i'm not disappointed.
As its a cream eye shadow, the texture is really creamy and allows me to blend it really well. I got an Maybelline eye shadow brush on offer along with this but i prefer to use my fingers instead. After using the brush, i found it difficult to blend and felt it to be streaky. Perhaps with a better brush this wouldn't happen. Anyway i prefer to use my fingers for now.
Like i said, it is easy to blend, but i leave it for long without blending it becomes cake-y and then blending becomes very difficult. So make sure that you blend them well as soon as you put them on the lids. The eye shadow looks very pigmented in the pot, but it ain't so when applied. Though i am happy with this shade and the coverage it provides, i wish it had more depth to this shade. To get more depth or a punch, i simply use this one as a base and top them off with the orange shade eye shadow that i have. It works great as it is and can also be used as a base to brighten the color.
What i love most about these babies is that they last really long. Never mind the eye lid primer, even without them they last a good 5 hours. Ain't that super!!! And the next best part is that it doesn't crease for a good deal of time too. And come from is -Oily Lids...that would be me, is a great thing. This eye shadow feels so light on the lids. With the e.l.f ones, i could feel it on my lids, not that it was uncomfortable but i felt it being there. At times i almost forgot that i was wearing them and rubbed my eyes (I have this nasty habit of rubbing my eyes and wiping away my eye makeup)
The only other down side is that after couple of hours i feel that the eye shadow becoming powdery and it gets in to my eyes. I guess the eye shadow does dry out after some time. Since this happens only after a decent 5-6 hours i'm okay with it.
There is more shades in this collection that i would love to try, like Pomegrante Punk, Tenacious Teal and Edgy Emerald, Bold Gold.
Easy on the pocket:
Variety of shades available.
Last really long.
Easy to blend
Doesn't crease
Feels light and comfortable
Need to blend quickly before it cakes up.
Become powdery after 6 hours and irritates the eye.
Wish it was little bit more pigmented. Not exactly a 'Con' but just saying...
Good Shades, Decent coverage, Lasts longs. There is nothing thats gonna stop me from getting more of these puppies

Review: L'oreal Kohl Mineral Powder Liner

You lovelies already know that i got this as a gift from my cousin sister and am so excited about them. I don't  own that many L'oreal products and this is my first mineral kohl as well so am happy to add them to my stash. Am not sure of the cost and i cant seem to find the list of ingredients on it.
I have them in three shades: Precious Black, Meteorite Blue and Iced Chestnut
The package looks cute but it isn't sturdy. The black one is cracked from from the banging up it got when i was travelling. I feel that the design of the packaging itself is a bit inconvenient. It would have been great if the product/powder would automatically get to the brush like a refill system .I  hope i was clear enough when saying this. If it had been that way it would have been really cool and very convenient. The brush that come along is really good and apt for using along with this products. The bristles on the brush are really good. Length of the brush is a bit shorter for my liking, that's because i have long fingers. Okay its not exactly their fault 🙂 To get to the brush you need to pull the lid and to get to the kohl you to unscrew the lid with the brush. I know its quite a procedure before you actually get to use it.
It comes with a sifter inside it and this really helps with controlling the amount of products is needed. Also there is this white sponge on top of the sifter. Take my word - NEVER LOSE IT!!!
As you can see from the above pic, without that teeny-tiny sponge, the product gets everywhere and its utter chaos. These mineral kohl are super light to wear and feel really comfortable. There is no irritations of any kind. The kohl in black 'Precious Black' is really pigmented unlike the other two and is also matte. The other two 'Meteorite Blue' and 'Iced Chestnut' contains shimmer that goes away in like two seconds and then  its just matte. The black one lasts for like 3 hours on its own and gradually starts to fade. And the other two goes away completely in a maximum of 2 hours. I don't know if a primer would help it stay a bit longer as i haven't tried it yet. Other reviewers have suggested using a similar coloured eye pencil underneath it to make it work. I feel that I have to work too hard to make it work as an eye liner
Now lets talk about the fallouts. I have never seen any product with so much fallouts. Even the cheap eye shadow palettes that i bought when i was in college didn't have this much fallouts. By the time i'm done doing my eyes, my face is a total mess. The kohl gets everywhere and i need to remove it with a make-up remover. So ladies, who does their foundation and face make-up routine first make an exception and do your eyes first when using this product.Sorry L'oreal!!! but the fallouts are too much to deal with.
Sorry for not able to post the images of other shades!!! The images just isn't getting transferred to my laptop.
Can double up as an eye shadow
Contains sifter to control the amount of product.
Feels light and comfortable to wear.
Not very pigmented except for the black one.
Doesn't last more than 2 hours
Crazy fallouts.
The design is bit inconvenient.
Packaging is not sturdy.
The price of the product is on the higher side considering that it has tremendous fallouts, it doesn't last long and the packaging or its design is not user friendly. So will be using what i have now but wont be buying them again.
