Maybelline Color Sensational Velvet Matte Lipstick - Mat 6: Review & Swatches

Maybelline Color Sensational Velvet Matte Lipstick

Hello Ladies, am super excited to try the Maybelline Color Sensational Velvet Matte Lipstick, so got 3 shades in this line. Here’s the first one. The shade name is Mat 6. I really wish they would come up with a creative name instead of these boring numbers. However, the performance of this product compensates for the distasteful name. On with the review….  I have been using this lippy for almost 3-4 months now. I know it’s late. God!!, the amount of procrastination by me is ridiculous. Makeup Haul - November + December

Stocked up on old favorites and trying out some new ones as well.

I'm trying out makeup products from Makeup Revolution and Star's Cosmetics. I'm quite surprised with the Star's Cosmetics. Even though I bought these products on a whim, they are quite good. I will be reviewing them soon. Some of my personal favorites are eyeshadows from Makeup Revolution, bright pink/fuchsia matte lippie from Maybelline and yellow matte powder from Star's Cosmetics. Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss - #40 Captivating Coral : Review & Swatches.

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss - #40 Captivating Coral : Review & Swatches.
I'm not a huge fan of lip glosses as I have pigmented lips and every other lp gloss i have encountered did give my lips proper coverage. It has been ages since I had bought one, so I decided to treat myself with one and was hoping to change my opinion of it. I always keep searching for foundations that suits my oily face and at the same time doesn't break the bank. And my search led me to this one. I got this soon after i shifted to Bangalore and the weather was on the colder side. By then my skin had become bit dry and had to use some moisturizer. There is a reason why i'm yapping about the weather and my choice...so hold on.
My take on this:
The packaging is sturdy and of good quality. It comes with a pumping mechanism that disposes small quantity at a time. This is one of the great things about them. The pump keeps the product hygienic and the lock that comes with the pump keep it spill free and travel friendly.
There is pretty decent shade variations available. You can check out the pic here.
The foundations gives a very natural and flawless finish. It gives a satin finish instead of a matte finish. The pores look diminished and i have to agree that the effect is like that of an airbrush one. It feels so light on the skin. The foundation is really easy to blend and can be done using just fingers, a brush or a sponge. The foundation provides sheer to medium coverage and doesn't look cakey.
Like it claims, my skin didn't break out or have any allergic reactions. The foundation covers fine line and gives a smooth finish but when it comes to deeper lines and wrinkles, the foundation without a primer enhances them.
The product claims that its fragrance free but i can detect slight chemical-ish smell from it.This foundation is only suited for oily skin even though it is mentioned that its oil free. When the weather is cold or at least chill it works great on normal, oily or combination skin depending on how well you moisturize. When my skin was/is more on the normal side this is a great option. It is an excellent foundation to use everyday. It stays put for a decent 5-6 hours after fixing it with some powder. But on an oily skin it stays for a maximum of 2 hours after which the foundation just slides off giving a greasy and patchy appearance. The staying power is really less on a hot day and on oily skin. Well this horrible heat tests and makes even the best foundation to fail.
The next downside of this product is that it oxidizes and darkens or becomes orangish. The intensity of the darkening depends on the surrounding temperature. The hotter it is, the darker the foundation becomes.
Pros:
Good packaging.
Pump dispenser.
Give natural finish
Easy to blend
Doesn't look cakey.
Makes the pores less visible.
Oil-free.
Dermatologist-tested
allergy-tested
Non-comedogenic
Safe for sensitive skin
Cons:
Oxidises.
Not suited for oily skin
Foundation slides off
Slight chemical smell.
Verdict:
This foundation is great if you are only going out for couple of hours. Skip this foundation if you have oily skin most of the time or if you live in a hot place.

Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo - 10 Fierce & Tangy

My take on this:
I bought this for this very shade as i am a big fan of Orange shades. This is my second attempt at cream eye shadows. The first one with e.l.f had been very disappointing and had put me off cream ones. But hearing all the raving reviews and looking at this awesome shade i decide indulge myself and boy i'm not disappointed.
As its a cream eye shadow, the texture is really creamy and allows me to blend it really well. I got an Maybelline eye shadow brush on offer along with this but i prefer to use my fingers instead. After using the brush, i found it difficult to blend and felt it to be streaky. Perhaps with a better brush this wouldn't happen. Anyway i prefer to use my fingers for now.
Like i said, it is easy to blend, but i leave it for long without blending it becomes cake-y and then blending becomes very difficult. So make sure that you blend them well as soon as you put them on the lids. The eye shadow looks very pigmented in the pot, but it ain't so when applied. Though i am happy with this shade and the coverage it provides, i wish it had more depth to this shade. To get more depth or a punch, i simply use this one as a base and top them off with the orange shade eye shadow that i have. It works great as it is and can also be used as a base to brighten the color.
What i love most about these babies is that they last really long. Never mind the eye lid primer, even without them they last a good 5 hours. Ain't that super!!! And the next best part is that it doesn't crease for a good deal of time too. And come from is -Oily Lids...that would be me, is a great thing. This eye shadow feels so light on the lids. With the e.l.f ones, i could feel it on my lids, not that it was uncomfortable but i felt it being there. At times i almost forgot that i was wearing them and rubbed my eyes (I have this nasty habit of rubbing my eyes and wiping away my eye makeup)
The only other down side is that after couple of hours i feel that the eye shadow becoming powdery and it gets in to my eyes. I guess the eye shadow does dry out after some time. Since this happens only after a decent 5-6 hours i'm okay with it.
There is more shades in this collection that i would love to try, like Pomegrante Punk, Tenacious Teal and Edgy Emerald, Bold Gold.
Pros:
Easy on the pocket:
Variety of shades available.
Last really long.
Easy to blend
Doesn't crease
Feels light and comfortable
Cons:
Need to blend quickly before it cakes up.
Become powdery after 6 hours and irritates the eye.
Wish it was little bit more pigmented. Not exactly a 'Con' but just saying...
Verdict:
Good Shades, Decent coverage, Lasts longs. There is nothing thats gonna stop me from getting more of these puppies

Latest Haul!!! Maybelline, In Color and others....

Hi Lovelies!!!, I know i'm posting after quite some time. Running after my son has hardly left me any time to do anything else.....what else is new right??!!! And that along with both of us being sick and this trip to my home town has zapped me of any remaining energy. Okay, enough with my rambling and let me go on with what i bought for myself 🙂 If not for retail therapy i dont know how sane i would be right now.
I bought these things over a period of two weeks, so its definitely retail therapy at work!!!!I ordered the In Color cosmetics - lip gloss and 1 eyeshadow from Snapdeal and that was one awful experience that deserves a separate post and will be doing it soon....or whenever time permits. I'm never ever gonna order from them again....
Below are the products from Incolor. The eyeshadow shade is 'Golden Bronze', but it looks to me like a Copper-ish tone. The lip gloss shades names are Blood Red (my fav), Mat Brown, Almond and Rusty Red. These goodies are so worth their money. If only they were easier to buy, i would get loads of their eyeshadows. Seriously this is good stuff. Will review them soon...ahem!!!
I bought each of them for Rs160/- You can get them much cheaper than this...you have to look around hard.
Second comes the Maybelline haul - I got the Tattoos one in Fierce & Tangy. I got the Maybelline eyeshadow brush as a compliment for it at Health&Glow. The foundation is really good and claims to give an air brushed look.
I also got a compact powder from Streetwear, Make remover wipes,Tresseme Shampoo, Banjaras Aloe gel and Revlon Lipstick in 'Toast of NewYork'

Here are the pics of my small haul and the gifts my cousin sister got me. Thanks a lot Madhu!!!
If you are interested in any of these products let me know, I will prioritise them and try to do a post on them first.
