I love trying lesser-known makeup brands. I came across Star's Yellow Matte Powder when I was just browsing through Jabong. This looked a lot like Ben Nye’s Banana powder so wanted to try this out. Let see how good or bad this makeup brand and in particular, this makeup product is. Continue reading "Star’s Yellow Matte Powder – A Possible Dupe for Ben Nye’s Banana Powder?"

ADS Eyebrow Wax and Powder

ADS Eyebrow Wax and Powder

I came across this product in ebay and was quite surprised by the price. I got the pair of eyebrow wax with their setting powder for Rs 385/- and am quite happy with this deal. My very first eyeshadow palette was from ADS, so buying this product made me feel nostalgic about the days I was experimenting with the eyeshadow palette. My take on the product:

At first glance, the packaging is a huge turn-off but considering the price, nothing more can be expected from it. Saying this, the e.l.f essential line of lipsticks is only $1 but the packaging definitely looks definitely better than this and their quality of the casing is much more decent. You can see that the clear plastic casing has some cracks in it as it gone through the brunt of shipping and this makes it very clear that its not sturdy and nothing fancy to look at. So i basically hate the packaging. The lipstick does not have their names printed on the casing instead its on the sticky wrapper on the casing along with the ingredients on it. You have to fight to get that tacky sticker off to use the product and it leaves behind a greasy trace of the adhesive on it.
I got myself 3 shades: Reggae Red, Burgundy Royal and Tropical Sunburst. I'm so in love with Reggae Red and it is gorgeous!!!  adding rocket fuel to my red lipstick craze at the moment. Its sort of on the cooler side but looks great on me in spite of my tone being 'Warm'. It doesn't make my teeth look  yeh it works for me!!! It really brightens up my face and doesn't look garish on me.I'm so looking forward to wear this shade to my heart's content. The shade Burgundy Royal is true to it name and the shade Tropical Sunburst is an awesome Goldie-Orangish-shimmery shade and looks awesome. since they are catered to women of color they have the rights shades that will match dusky Indian complexions as well.
The formula of these lipsticks are very creamy and they glide on like silk when applying. The color payoff is really good for these lipsticks actually they are too good to be true considering the price. This is great news for those with pigmented lips. It lasts about 4 hours and even after having an greasy meal it leaves behind a lovely stain on the lips.but I don't mind having to retouch to get that awesome color again. It does bleed a tad bit and can be fixed easily.

Great pigmentation
Very affordable.
Creamy formula.
Can experiment on dark/different shades without breaking the bank.
Leaves a nice stain on the lips
Cheap packaging.
Bleeds just a bit.

It would be great if they would work on their packaging. Love this one for its pigmentation and for the availability of dark shades. Would love to try out other dark shades in this range.

Elle18 Colour Bomb Lipstick - Cocoa Creme

What they claim:
`A blast of color with punch of Cocoa. The intense moisturizing core in the center protects and cares for your lips.

Price & Quantity: Rs100/- for 4.3ml
Other than Cocoa butter, none of the ingredients are mentioned.

My take on the product:
I have been having these lippies for almost 8 months and had forgotten about them.
I used to use these lippies back in college, when they were sold as 'Dewy Lips' or something like that....not sure....and i loved their packaging then than now. Even now these are very affordable and along with the low cost comes low performance as well. The lipstick comes in a bullet like black casing and the design on them is pretty childish if you ask me. Its great for college and school girl as one can sport this look, but for mature ladies it is too childish.
The lipstick isn't to moisturizing like they claim and it doesn't last long either. You can buy them if you are looking to try new shades as these wont make a dent in your wallet. The pigmentation varies from one shade to another and this shade 'Cocoa Creme' is almost my MLBB kinda shade.
It smells a bit like wax with fragrance and it is not very irritating.
No other ingredients other than Cocoa Butter are not listed anywhere on the product.

I would only recommend them to people who are new to wearing lipstick and also to those who are trying out new shades of lipstick.

Cost: Rs 99/-
Quantity: 4g

High Points:
Very affordable.
Good color coverage.
Color last about 3 hours at least (Considering the cost, I would say that is a +)
Decent looking case.
Sturdy Casing.
No allergic reactions on using.
Avon does not test on animals.
Lots of shades are available.

Low Points:
Available only through Avon reps.
Maybe they have added more moisturizing elements to the lipstick but i cant find them. Would suggest using a lip balm before using it.
As usual no testers are available and the shade in the brochure is not even close to the real shade.
Even thought the casing looks decent enough, its too girly for me. Will suit 'Girls' but not 'Women'. More for teens and pre-teens. Loved the previous casing.

Would I buy it again???
Maybe for my teenage nieces and occasionally for me too!!!

Maybelline Color Essential Lipstick in 'Autumn Rush'

As far as the quality is concerned, its awesome and there are huge collection of shades. This product has been reviewed so many times. So lets not do that. This post is all about Swatches!!!
Here are the swatches. It looks kinda Mauve-ish but trust me its not. It make my face look washed out!!!

Does this shade suit Dusky Beauties???
Ladies, Skip this one please!!!!
