My Thoughts on Kiss Beauty Matte Liquid Lipstick:
This is one of the two matte liquid lipsticks that I had purchased recently. You can check out the review of shade #3 here. I have used Kiss Beauty Contour, Concealer & Highlighter Palette and found to be worth its price. Kiss Beauty is one of the affordable makeup brands available on Amazon and other e-commerce sites. You should really check out their range of products and the options are huge. They have eyeshadow palettes, makeup fixing sprays, lip crayons, primers, blushers, etc.
Now, on to the product in hand.
The first thing that comes to mind (after looking at the package) is that it has a strong resemblance to Kylie’s matte lipstick. Except for the name, everything about the package is about it. Though many don’t like copied product packaging, what else can be expected of cheap cosmetics.
The fragrance is mild and smells fruity. It’s not annoying, making it a decent choice for all the sensitive noses.
It comes with a doe-foot wand/applicator. It’s nothing out of the ordinary but the wand is pretty sturdy and the brush isn’t cheap. It does a pretty good job.
The consistency is not thick nor runny. It’s just right to apply smoothly. You don’t have to drag it. The setting time is pretty quick. You need to correct if necessary. Even if it takes time, you can still correct it by using a cream cleanser.
I recommend you not to put your lips together and do what you usually do with other lippies, as when it dries, it messes up the finish. If you really can’t resist doing it, do it as soon as you apply it. When touching up, I did notice that it is better to wipe what left (not completely) and start off on fresh slate. This way the finish is much better than just topping it up.
The shade #5 is a dirty or a murky Coral shade with a hint of pink. It does have that pastel shade and looks great on Brown and dark skin too. This is one of those shade that will look on almost anyone.
It is super pigmented and nicely covers up spots, patches or any other irregularities on the lips, making it a great choice for those with dark or spotty lips.
With just normal food, water and liquids like coffee and juice, it lasts for about 5 hours. After this duration, I can some parts of the lips with missing paint. Yeah, it looks patchy. With Oily food, it hardly lasts. The center of the lips faces the maximum damage with almost no color left after an oily meal.
Another I noticed is that the shade seems to get a little ( a tad bit) darker than the initial shade. This is just something I perceived and not entirely sure if it’s in my mind or if it’s happening for real.
Here's how this shade looks on me.
Now, let’s have a quick look at the pros and cons and decide if it’s kiss-worthy.
- Decent shelf life
- Easy on the pocket
- True matte
- Not drying
- Decent lasting power
- Super pigmented
- Contains Paraben
- No shade name – only number
- Does not survive oily meals
For those who don’t mind Parabens, this is a great choice as it super pigmented and affordable compared to other matte liquid lipsticks in the Indian market than contains Parabens or doesn’t mention their ingredients (Like Sugar, PAC, Lakme, etc). But if you can’t stand Parabens, this is not for you. Nothing is more disappointing than a great makeup product that contains Parabens. If only it didn’t contain Parabens, I would have highly recommended it.
