I love trying lesser-known makeup brands. I came across Star's Yellow Matte Powder when I was just browsing through Jabong. This looked a lot like Ben Nye’s Banana powder so wanted to try this out. Let see how good or bad this makeup brand and in particular, this makeup product is.
I have not seen a Banana Powder in real life, so will be referring to BeBeautilicious’s post on the same.
Star’s translucent powder endows your makeup with a natural and aesthetic skin shine. Applied for glamorous/gorgeous look and a final polishing of makeup.
Price and Quantity:
Rs 250/- for 25 gms
Before I talk about this product, let me express my thoughts on this brand.
My Thoughts on the Brand:
I feel that the brand has a huge potential as they are coming up with the not-so-common- products like Yellow corrective powder, concealer and contouring pallets at an affordable price in the Indian market. They have come up with other makeup stuff like primers, eye shadows, bronzing powder, lip rouge, blusher, lipsticks, lip gloss, cream eye shadows, gel eyeliner, translucent powder and makeup brush sets. I'm not sure about how good they are, but their products are interesting.
My Thoughts on this Product:
Well… the product claim could use some major language editing. No offense meant here, it’s just a bad copy irks me.
The product comes in a sturdy tub packaging. It has a sifter to control the flow of powder. My advice is, don’t take off the protective sticker that comes on top of the sifter. Instead, make couple of holes in it. This lets out little powder at a time. I found that if the tub is tossed around when travelling a lot of powder comes out and it gets messy. The packaging is nothing fancy but it does its job.
This powder, like it claims, is mattifying. So beauties with dry skins should stay off this product or moisturize really well to counteract the matte feel. Also, make sure your skin is properly exfoliated as it highlights flaky skin.
The yellow tone looks overtly bright in the container, but doesn’t look like that on my skin. I love how it brightens my face. You can use this powder to highlight and set your under eye concealer.
Like I said I haven’t seen Banana powder, so here’s a pic from BeBeautilicious blog. The consequent image is that of this product. See for yourself how close it is to the Banana powder. You can check out the review on Ben Nye’s Banana Powder here.
When using foundation, I use this powder to highlight my face. When going foundation free, I use it all over my face to give a shine-free look. You only need a small amount for the job, so expect it to last a long time.
I have used this powder in this FOTD. Check it out.
- Sifter is present to control the amount of powder

I really like this product a lot and will surely repurchase this again.
Still not sure how close it is to the Banana Powder. So beautifies who have used it, please try the Star’s product and let me know if it is indeed its dupe or not.
